Lyrical Sunday - Women.
Welcome to Lyrical Sunday. I hope you have had a great weekend. Thanks to Sarah for already linking up. I look forward to reading your offerings.
Her
I don't think I recognise her now,
The woman I thought I would be.
I am not her.
I don't think I recognise her now,
That journalist, writing from the front line.
I am not her.
I don't think I recognise her now,
That social worker, working with the broken child.
I am not her.
I don't think I recognise her now,
That lawyer, fighting for the rights of the child.
I am not her
I don't think I recognise her yet,
This woman, looking at me in the mirror.
How did I become her?
I don't think I recognise her yet,
This woman, a mother and wife,
I am still discovering her.
I think I recognise her now,
This woman, with an open mind and open arms,
I am beginning to know her.
I think I recognise her now,
This woman, with the strength to bend to the winds
I am beginning to respect her.
I think I recognise her now,
This woman, with more talents than she shows.
I am beginning to honour her.
I think I recognise her now,
This woman, with more to give and more to learn,
I am beginning to give her priority.
I think I recognise her now,
This is the our life I am living,
And it will change, as she did...

Fabulous. I really love this. We change so much in one lifetime. Accepting and being open to change are all part of our life's rich tapestry.
ReplyDeleteI particularly like the lines, 'I think I recognise her now,
This woman, with the strength to bend to the winds
I am beginning to respect her.'
xx
Your verses inspired a whole post that I called We change. I hope you are proud of yourself!
