Today we had brunch with friends to say adieu for the next four months and apologise for missing a certain little one's big One party!

We went to a cafe we haven't been to before and were so impressed. Duck Creek in Pauatahanui

Great food, good coffee but with the added beauty of a view like this from most areas in the cafe. 

There are actual ducks too, who Monkey was allowed to feed with the help of the owner as Stud1 and I had a catch up over the first coffee of the morning, before our friends arrived.

Gutted that we will be leaving so soon, having found this gem but we'll be back for sure!

After a drive while Monkey napped we went to our second engagement of the day. Little Miss Anna Banna's first birthday bash. As the big kids get older the parties become more exhausting :) Her clever parents booked a function room at a local restaurant and had it catered. My thoughts are that they are geniuses - no stress about food, no stress about cleaning up and no stress about entertainment as there were toys and dress-ups supplied! The big kids went kinda crazy and the over-1s tried to keep up and the under-1s and birthday girl seemed overwhelmed. But I think everyone had an amazing time! Thanks!

We had a great time catching up with everyone and I made some dates to see my friends before we leave on Saturday. I will miss them and Monkey will miss his friends too. Thank goodness for promise of Skype Coffee Chats and virtual play dates!
