Magic in the Latte Junkie home.

This morning as I dragged myself into the kitchen (I woke up with a head cold) I was met with the cutest picture. And of course I didn't think to take a photo.

Monkey and Stud1 were sat at the table. Monkey was typing words into Google Image search and doing it with very little help. Stud1 was spelling the words and Monkey typed them.

The back story is that Monkey was convinced that the words to Proud Mary were "Rolling down the ribbon."

Even after a trip to YouTube for confirmation, he was still sceptical and Stud1 showed him images of river boats. This in turn led to "OH! Can we see pictures of Pooh Bear?"

So with Stud1 spelling all the words and Monkey typing them, they covered a fair few words including noodle pudding, puppy and Uncle Graeme.

While I was watching him and Stud1, they moved on to "weetbix" which he copied from the cereal box and then milk from the milk container.

I knew he knew his letters but to use them like this made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Admittedly, I was a little envious that this had been Stud1's idea, after all, I am a trained teacher! I am so proud of both of them!

Here is the song that started it all...

  1. Wow, thats really impressive of both Monkey and Stud1. Go them! I have been trying so hard to teach Neo his letters, he knows some. At the moment he is far more interested in numbers though..so ohwell. Other than reading and pointing out letters and writing them, what other techniques have you used? do share! xx

  2. Haha - that's funny.
I wish I had access to google 15 years ago - it would have settled so many arguments a lot quicker - proving once and for all how right I always am. LOL
